We've been busy in Room 23!

We have all been practising very hard with our Ukulele over the past few weeks.
We learned the chords of C and G to play the song “Rocky Mountain”

Of course, some of the girls made their First Holy Communion in the past few weeks. We had a very special day that day with all our families in the Cathedral.

Room 23 have started dance with Edel every Monday after lunch. Edel has all the latest tunes for us to dance to.

During the month of May, we learned the importance of good hygiene and washing our hands regularly. We were proud to see that Room 23 had the cleanest hands in all of Second Class!!

Keeping our hands clean helps to stop any nasty bugs or bacteria from getting into our bodies and making us sick.

Most recently, we gave paper weaving a go during one of our Art lessons. We found it very tricky at first but we quickly got the hang of it once we saw the pattern.

Compliment Bug Party

We had our compliment bug party today.

The girls didn’t want to eat sweets during lent so we had pancakes, cream, strawberries and bananas.

We thought this was a much healthier option and they were quickly and happily devoured in no time as we watched a movie.

Enjoy your mid term break!

January was a busy month!

We have been learning tin whistle with Pauric on Wednesdays. Remember to keep practising at home!

So far we have learned one tune, “Twinkle, Twinkle”

Swimming started in January and continues on Thursdays until 25th February.

We received our healthy school flag. We are always trying to be healthy by staying active and eating healthily in school. We have our breakfast every morning and we now have our school lunches every day to enjoy.

This week we continued with Data in maths. We learned what a bar chart is and how it helps us to represent information we collect.

We drew a bar chart to show our favourite colours.

We had a chance to go out and count the different colour of cars in the car park. We then drew our own bar charts in our copy.

We were very excited this week when we got to see a production of Cinderella.

We really enjoyed watching it and singing along to all the songs.

This week saw the start of Spring.

The first day of Spring is St. Brigid’s Day.

We decided to make some St. Brigid’s Crosses.

They look a little different to the traditional cross but we think they look pretty cool and colourful.

Our volcano erupts!

Today in Room 23, our class volcano erupted.

The girls explained that the bicarbonate soda reacts with the vinegar to create an ‘eruption’.

Take a look at how it all happened!

Christmas is coming..........

Christmas is coming and we have been getting ready in Room 23!

Our classroom is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We have got our Christmas tree up. We think it looks really cool as the lights twinkle in the dark.

We also made a Christmas Tree using our hands and some green paint!

We have our class crib on display too.

The girls in Room 23 are feeling very excited in the run up to Christmas and we are all looking forward to it.

Advent

We had our Advent Assembly this week where we explained about the Advent Wreath and that this is the second week of Advent.

We lit the second purple candle which the girls said symbolises peace. The girls said a special prayer and sang the Advent song.

Later, some of the girls got to go to the Cathedral to see the Advent Wreath.
